The best kind of tired is when you are just beat up from playing in the sun, swimming, and running around. Well, that is me right now. DOG TIRED, but..it’s the best kind of tired there is.
We didn’t stop all weekend. Friday night was our ritual pizza and I took Hank to get his haircut for his class graduation on Tuesday. Side note: It’s not really a graduation although they are calling it that. He is moving into the 4 year old pre-school class and I refuse to believe that my baby is old enough to be graduating from anything.
On Saturday I loaded my car up with fishing rods, tackle, toys, and snacks and met up with my in-laws at a campground at the beach. I don’t know about other areas, but the Jersey Shore has about a million campgrounds just off the coast. We are typically more of a beach family so I wasn’t even sure what to pack.
The place we stayed at was a ton of fun. The community had every amenity you’d want and some more added in. There was a fishing lake (where we stayed), a swimming lake, a huge pool, an ice cream stand, multiple playgrounds, an arcade, and even a pottery painting studio.
This wagon was not designed for children. But hey, we made it to the playground and no one got hurt.
My sister-in-law Amanda helping Reid bounce.
Reid was pretty much living out his dream in this picture. Bowl of cantaloupe- check! Watching cartoons- check! Holding his beloved trash cans- you better believe it!
My niece Emily knows how to vacation!
Hank and Logan were inseparable the entire time.
Hank told me as we were walking along the water “If I could wish any wish it would be that we could stay here for the rest of our lives.”.
He had no desire to actually catch a fish. He would just cast and reel in, cast and reel in.
Top bunk buddies.
On Sunday Kevin and I took the boys to Storybook Land. We go here a couple times a year with the boys. It is so picturesque and fun here. It is very much geared towards younger kids so we want to enjoy it as much as we can before the kids outgrow it. Right now they are at the perfect age to experience it.
Now, to be perfectly honest, the day started out like this:
But once we got some food in these kids they were back to their happy selves.
Hank’s favorite part of the day was meeting and feeding Mary’s Little Lamb.
Spying on the peacocks.
This is what I thought was the best part of the day. Sunday was the first super hot day we’ve had in Jersey so we made sure to pack the boys bathing suits for the splash pad. THANK GOODNESS. We were getting pretty overheated so this was the perfect spot to cool off.
My funny face boy on the train.
Hank LOVED this maze. I think we did the maze 347584357 times.
You can see how tired these poor buys are. On the way home for stopped for dinner at what we call “The Milkshake Restaurant” because it has over 100 different types of milkshakes. Hank and I shared the Chocolate Marshmallow milkshake. Kevin and Reid split the Butterscotch Krimpet (regional snack) milkshake.
The boys must have gotten their 2nd wind because we went home and swam our hearts out.
We have a big week this week in our house (all fun things). I think I’m going to go rest up so I can continue to keep up with this crew.
I hope you all had a fantastic and fun weekend.
