We’re back! Summer time is upon us and we are LOVING every minute of it. The only thing that I am hoping for this week is that the temps are high enough to warm the pool. Our pool has been open for three weeks so far and the water still hasn’t been warm enough for me to dive in.
We had a lot to celebrate this weekend. On Saturday we had the honor of witnessing two wonderful friends get married. They are a beautiful couple inside and out and it was so exciting to spend this day with them.
My boy being silly in church.
My other sweethearts.
Getting these two to sit still was NOT easy. Well, Reid anyway. He sits through regular Mass fine normally but on this day he had other ambitions.
My brother-in-law was the best man and at one point Hank was allowed to sit up with the groomsmen. He was so proud of himself. He told me that he didn’t get to be dressed like the big guys, but he’d be there for them if they needed help.
I apologize for the blurry pic. Kevin’s phone takes the WORST pictures and its the only one of us I have from the night.
Our Sunday morning was perfect. We sat around on the porch playing and snacking. The boys were playing well together (which isn’t always the case) so we just hung out and enjoyed the weather for a bit.
Once we mustered up the energy to get out of our pajamas, we headed to the lake to take the boys on a canoe ride. If it were up to Kevin and I, we would be on the water for HOURS at a time. One of our favorite pre-kid activities was to pack sandwiches and take our kayaks out to the river. We would be out there all day long and would stop and see different creatures, talk to people and even just enjoy the sounds and smells. But now, we settle for a canoe ride (a little more stable than the kayaks) while we keep our eyes peeled for turtles.
Extreme close up alert. I’m no selfie expert but I was trying to get us all in the pic.
We caught snails! We put them right back of course but the boys were so excited. They had insisted on bringing fishing nets in case there was anything to catch. And wouldn’t you know it…
After we finished up at the lake we got the boys washed up (or more like wiped down with wipes and sanitizer), changed and refreshed and headed over to celebrate the baptism of Kevin’s cousin’s new baby.
The kids had an amazing time (read: there was a room dedicated to desserts). The kids ran and played and ate. We all very much enjoyed it and I just love spending time with Kevin’s family. If there were an in-law lottery, I would have hit it with these folks.
How is this kid only 4?! I feel like this is what he will look like at 17.
Like I said…room of desserts. Hank and his cousin Logan have the two biggest sweet tooths (sweet teeth?) I have ever seen. These boys were in their glory.
I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend and that you are blessed with some the gorgeous weather like we are having over here in Jersey.
