We made it folks!
Just a few short hours until the weekend.
I am ITCHING for the weekend to start. I worked a few extra hours this week so by today I am majorly missing boys. Kevin and I are trying to carve out more together time during the week after the boys go to bed because it is impossible to fit it all in two days. Weekends are just too short.
Like every Friday I am linking up with some blog friends to share a few of my favorites from the week. Let’s start with…..
I actually don’t care much for Valentine’s Day. Not that I dislike it, it just isn’t a big deal or really on my radar. Kevin and I had a conversion like:
Me: Ummm…I didn’t get you anything for Valentine’s Day
K: I didn’t get you anything either. Did you want something?
Me: NOPE! I’ll pick up a heart-shaped pizza on my way home.
Buuuttt…my boys came up big. Kevin had picked them up from his parents and they spent the afternoon making and decorating chocolate covered pretzels for me and painting me a beautiful sign. I love this family so much it hurts sometimes.
Earlier in the day I joined Hank at his class’s ice cream social. At the beginning of the school year he wasn’t too keen on these class parties. Admittedly, they can be crazy and raucous so it’s a little much for my reserved guy. This party though, he had a great time.
Along with their heart shaped pizza Kevin and I gave the boys some V-Day treats and the movie Trolls. After dinner we all put on our jammies and snuggled on the couch with our blankets. We all loved this movie but I think I was the most into it. The boys were up later than usual and were telling me they were ready for bed. I was shushing them and asking for a few more minutes of the movie. Usually this situation is in reverse.
Yesterday I shared some of my favorite places to visit down in Wildwood NJ when you have little kids. Wildwood is our second home so we spend a ton of time there all year round. The weather is supposed to be around 65 this weekend (that’s warm for February in the mid-Atlantic) so the boys have already planned to gather up their dump trucks and shovels and hit the beach for some castle making and arcades.
Talk about the easiest morning of the school year! Yesterday Hank’s class wore their pajamas to school while they learned about the letter P. This boy was a happy camper that he got to show his friends his construction jammies.
Reid isn’t in school yet but wanted to wear his construction jammies to Grandmom & Grandpop’s just like his big brother. Reid wouldn’t sit still for me to get a pick of the two but I snapped this “group hug” photo of Daddy leaving for work.
Also this week I shared some of family’s favorite kids books. We are all readers in this house, especially before bed. We try to hit the library at least once a week to get some new stories but we have some tried and true favorites that always make their way into the rotation. Check them out and let me know if you have any suggestions for us to try!
Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! See you all again on Monday.
